NrMe iPhone App: Twitter With Geo Targeting And A Business Plan Aimed At Local Advertisers

by Scott Schroeder on June 27, 2008

NrMe - nrme.comJust when you thought you had the iPhone in your hand filled with all of the quirkiest social media tools like Twitter, FaceBook, BrightKite, Pownce, YouTube, MySpace, LinkedIn and Plaxo, NrMe (Near Me) announces their social networking application built strictly for iPhone users. With plans of launching this summer ‘08, NrMe will provide location (and time) based technology, capable of broadcasting messages to fellow NrMe users across a 9 block radius.

As far as monetizing on their Apple iPhone app, nrme.com is hoping to bring on those advertisers interested in targeting niche markets (i.e. iPhone users, Apple fanatics, tech savvy peoples) in geo-specific areas. As you could imagine, this service could deem beneficial to restaurants, bars, hotels, airlines, shopping malls, concert as well as conference venues and various other retail stores/gift shops. Sounds pretty fancy to my ears; it will certainly be interesting to see how NrMe pairs up right in the midst of this totally awesome Twitter craze :)
