The Highest APY on Those (6 Month) CD’s Is Getting Low Low Low, Low Low Low ;(

by Scott Schroeder on October 17, 2008

Don’t get it twisted, I’m not talking apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur or even baggy sweat pants and the Reebok’s with the straps, I’m talking saving safely with a high interest bearing certificate of deposit (well whatever is considered high these days in regards to highest APY on CD’s anyways). As of October 17, 2008, safely weighing in at GMAC Bank it’s a 4.00% APY on their 6-month CD with a minimum opening balance of $500. Lagging closely behind with a 3.90% APY on their 7-month CD’s, it’s CountryWide Bank, who you may recall from on of my previous highest APY journals. That’s the word on certificate of deposit savings, how you measuring up in these hard economic times?
